CV

Catherine’s artistic career began with drawing, painting and printmaking.
She then moved on to works on paper, combining drawing and mixed media with antique books, illustrations and photographs. These pieces are visually complex, juxtaposing the old with a modern approach and technique.  They were well-received, resulting in commissions. This work has been shown throughout the region and is included in private collections across the country.
A brief foray into jewelry-making found her pieces sold regionally as well as in the San Diego Museum of Art Store.
While continuing to work in her studio and show her art, she was actively involved in advertising, designing and creating content for clients.  She retired from that work in 2006.
Over the last 10 years, changes in her concepts and materials find her focusing almost exclusively on assemblages/dioramas.  The first pieces in this series reflected the early works on paper, using antique and found objects.  Her latest work predominantly includes modern dolls, found objects and vintage materials.  Some use a technique of layered wax and acrylic. They are texturally complex, ranging from a feminist theme to sarcasm, the macabre and whimsy. They resonate with contemporary social themes, especially considering our current political environment.
Catherine received a BFA from Virginia Commonwealth University.
